This one dates from 1885 and was used by my grandmother's mother in Rhode Island. It's fully functional and a pair of carders are included in your purchase price. My wife, Phyllis, spun on it for many years. That's her spinning in the photo. Mostly original, the spinning head is "new" (circa 1965) and the legs were turned about that time; two of the legs may not be original wood. Everything else, the wheel, the base, the wheel support, and the two uprights supporting the spinning head, the axle and the mechanism that supports/adjusts the spinning head is original. My grandmother's mother (who owned this wheel) lived in this house on Smithfield Road in North Providence, Rhode Island:
