The steering system is by Teleflex. (These days known as "SeaStar." i.e. www.seastarsolutions.com.) The steering control unit, poorly mounted on the control panel, pushes and pulls a flexible cable running in a flexible housing -- which, in turn, pushes and pulls a steering arm atop the rudder post. The cable housing is held by a "thru-stringer" bolt forward of the rudder. The panel mounting will be improved.

June 4, 2014 -- The steering gear has been removed, cleaned, properly lubricated and cleanly mounted. Also cleaned up and re-packed rudder post and prop shaft stuffing box.

June 11, 2014 -- Seems the "wiper" never did function. So I rebuilt it, using the original (black) felt holder cut down and housed in some PVC as pictured.
