Ken and Duane, I'd appreciate your comments. The sensor is the "correct" one for the gauge. The sensor's threads are clean. After an hour of running on the Mississippi River yesterday, the boat's temp gauge hardly moved off cold. (excuse fuzzy image clipped from video) Temperature of intake manifold where sensor is located is 110 or thereabouts. The thermostat is new (but not tested), 160 degrees. The exhaust manifolds are plenty warm, seem properly cooled. The 3 items marked with red arrows are assembled the same as when we removed them. I suspect they make up a back-flow preventer, but I really don't understand how this functions, or how it's supposed to function. I just think the engine should run a lot warmer than it does.
